Our Faith/Beliefs
ANNUAL HOLY DAYS - We believe that the annual feasts given in Leviticus chapter 23 were ordained by God, given to ancient Israel, and continued by the New Testament Church. We further believe that these feasts: Passover, Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles, picture the complete plan of salvation. (Exod. 12:1-27; Lev. 23:1-44; Zech. 14:16-19; John 7:8-10; Acts 2:1; Acts 12:3; Acts 20:6; Acts 27:9; 1 Cor. 5:8; 1 Cor. 16:8)
One of the most significant Holy Days, Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, recalls and rejoices over the Israelites' redemption from slavery in Egypt. The symbolic elements of the feast cause us not only to look back and remember what the Lord did for the Hebrew Israelites in the past; they also foreshadow a greater redemption through Jesus, the Passover Lamb. Hebrew Israelites around the world have celebrated Passover for thousands of years; however, most do not understand the ultimate significance of the festival. If you already believe that Jesus is the Lamb of God, you may become inspired to have share with us the knowledge of "Christ is the Passover" and perhaps participate in a Christ our Passover program at Bethel.
Bethel celebrates Passover by recognizing that Jesus shed his blood even as the Passover lamb had to. His death accomplished another, more lasting redemption than redemption from slavery in Egypt.
Jesus as the Lamb of God secured for us the forgiveness of sins which separate us from God. In our enslavement to sin and inability to change, we are worthy of the slaying that is the separation of our souls from God for eternity. But through Jesus' sacrificial death, the Angel of Death is made to pass over.
The Passover not only had to be killed, but its blood had to be placed on the doorposts to save the firstborn sons. So, too, it is not enough that Jesus died for the sins of the world. It is not enough that he was God's provision to secure atonement for the entire human race. If they are to live, individuals must appropriate this provision by having a personal encounter with the Lamb of God whose name is Yahshua (Jesus our Messiah).
Romans 2:28-29 “For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” If you have the blood of the lamb applied to your life and you have been circumcised in your heart, the Word of God says that you are a Jew. You have been grafted into that vine and blessed with the privilege of hearing the gospel of the Messiah, the savior of the world, Jesus Christ. When we get to heaven and can stand before God, the Bible says that when we worship we will say, “worthy is the lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world.” Jesus, before we ever existed, made up His mind to become that spotless and pure lamb to die for our sins.
